As restaurant week comes to a halt, I ask myself if some of the participating Restaurants really focused on what it was meant to be: A week where participating restaurants provide fixed price for specially selected three-course dinner menus.
Apr 03, 2009 – I have been to a few participating Restaurants and fixed price for specially selected three-course dinner menus meant mini portions. The mini portions would have been fine as a CHEF TASTING but definitely misleading when it comes to fixed price.
If I multiply $28.09 (food cost) x 3 (the 1/3 of a portion that I got) I get $84.07 – pretty steep for the economical ingredients that made up most of the dishes. Where is the value, or better yet, where is the beef! – just like that old commercial used to say! I can definitely get much better value "sharing" any time I want rather than wait on Restaurant week.
