With more than 85 wineries Texas is the nation’s fifth-largest wine producing state.

Thomas Volney Munson from Denison, Texas developed over 300 varieties of "new grape varieties" specifically for the American South and Southwest - he was best known for fighting the phylloxera epidemic of the late nineteenth century.
